Can H1 be amended?

Hi,

I have H1 Petition approved, but the visa was rejected during stamping in India.
Now i am in US with H4 status. Can the approved H1 petition be amended or
should i file for a new H1 Petition. Please let me know the possibilities to work in US.

The same employer can file a COS from H4 to H1B and when that gets approved, you can start working for the employer. You cannot amend the petition since you are not in H1B status now.
