Can a H4 visa holder stay alone for few days?

Hi All
I am on H1. My wife is on H4. Can I visit India alone? i.e. can a H4 visa holder stay without the primary H1 holder in the country? Within howmany days should I return?

If H1 status is valid, H4 is valid

H4 status is dependent on H1 status. If H1 status is valid, so is H4 status. Whether H1 holder is in the country or outside, is not significant.
