Query reg Out of status

Hi,

Please let me know if the below scenario results in out of status:

H1 visa expires on 7/31, i-94 expires on 8/10.
If I travel out of the country on 8/1, is that an issue? (My payroll runs till 7/31).
If that is an issue, what are the options?(Extension filed with USCIS, change of status).

I dont see an issue except the fact that why would you file an extension and then go out of US, its a waste of money in my opinion.
