I have been working with the current company for more than 4 yrs as a full time employee.I am in 6th year of my H-1B visa which is getting expired in May-2006.My company has filed my GC and I-140 got approved in Apr-2005.My priority date is Nov-2001.Since I am single,have decided to file I-485 once I get married.
There is a strong rumour in our company that there is going to be 30% job cut in 3 WEEKS due to merger/reorg.My severe concern is that will I get my 7th year H-1B extension after the layoff if I join any new company? (only if I get laid off).Also,am I eligibale for filing I-485 (when priority date becomes current) with the new company since my I-140 was approved 9 months ago.
