H4 to H1 -Error in DOB field in I-94 section of I-797

Dear Friends,

I recently got my H1 approval(H4 to H1), but the year part of the DOB in the I-797 form is incorrect because while applying for the H1 in the form I-129 a typographical error had occured by my employer in the DOB field, while it is correct in my Passport and Visa and in my cerificates. So please tell me whether now I can aaply for SSN or not.Will it create any problem while applying for SSN ?And please suggest me what I should do now in this situation. Can I call INS helpline directly and get it done or is it compusory that I have to go through my employer.

I have a similar problem now. I got my H1 B papers but there is a mistake in DOB field. Instead of 1978 it shows 1972 which was a mistake made by the attorney. Don't know if I can attend the interview with these papers. Did you attend the interview with the mistake on the papers?
