can we get a receipt number for a rejected case? Or is it just the reject case # that we get?
Or receipt number is only for the approved cases?

You get a receipt number when USCIS accepts your petition. Receipt notice is nothing but an acknowledgement that USCIS received your petition. The receipt notice will contain the receipt number. You can use it to track your case online.

So that means every petition whether approved or rejected has a receipt number. Is that correct?
My employer says there is no receipt number since the petition was rejected. He just provided me the case reject #.
Can I check my status online using the case rejection #?

>>> That should be the receipt number. I am not sure what case reject number is. You can use the receipt number to check your case status online. If the petition is rejected, then that will show up in the online case tracker.
