My h1b transfer (premium) has been approved today but I'm just looking to see if we need a hard copy to start working? Or is the approval notice from lawyer sufficient?

If filed in premium, the approval notice will be emailed to the lawyer first and the later the hard copy will come through regular mail. If you have a soft copy of the approval notice, that is the proof that your petition is approved. You can join the employer upon verifying that.
