Change of role in H1B Extension / I-94 Extension

Hello All,

I got my H1B Visa during Jan 2014 valid till 31 May 2016. I traveled to USA during Jul 2015. The current petition has "Computer Programmer" role defined for my H1B visa. My employer has a tool to check that if I'm eligible for H1B extension based on location, zip code and H1B role combination. For example I am not eligible for NY-12345-Computer Programmer combination.

Hence what will happen if employer still goes for H1B extension? Will that cause any problem,

Secondly, I am eligible for the same location but different role. E.g. : NY-12345-Web Developer

Hence,if I need to change to Web Developer or DBA role in I-94 extension or H1B extension, what would be the process for doing that? Is it possible to change the role when applying for H1 Extension?

The employer will need to file a new LCA for the job and location. Once that gets approved, the employer will need to file the H1B petition. The job location, designation and pay can be different from the previous one.
