I recently got a company to sponsor my H1B visa (I was on H4 earlier). I received the H1B few days back, but unfortunately my employer does not have a project for me. So they have been asking me to wait for me to get into their payroll and get paid. I wanted to know how long is it safe for me to stay on H1B, but not employed on a payroll. Any help here would be very much appreciated. Thanks

When you are in H1B, you should be working and getting paid to maintain the H1B. Otherwise you are considered to be out of status on H1B. Being out of status can harm your future petition and visa processing. Check the below links.
