H Visa limit

If I arrive with a H1 and stay on H1 for 4 years, and move to H4 and complete 6 years (H1 --> 4 and H4 2 ), my spouse has still valid H1, Is my status valid ? Am I subject to the 6 year limitation

I believe that your six years are up because the visa has expired even though you have not used it. Whatever the date of expiration is is when it is finished.

I am not sure about the H4 though
