HI,
My I-140 was approved in 2007 and I-485 filed and in pending status since 2007. However, my employer was renewing my H1B regularly. This year due to some legal issues my employer asked some of us to go on EAD. My H1B was due for renewal in October but since my employer asked me to go on EAD, my H1B expired in October,2015. Now we ,8 of us, have been laid off.
Now what is my status? If I find a new employer do I need to ask them to file for fresh H1B? Am I still legally staying in this country?
Please advise.
