Hello

Can anyone tell me if one can get a SSN while on H4 visa.

Also, if a person on H4 gets a job, does the transfer from H4 to H1B COS need to wait till the 65000 visa cap opens in April 2006.

SSN on H4

This is major issue as in WA state, DMU states that SSM is mandatory for driving license.

H4 can get a SSN, which will be only for Driving licence not for work

You can get a SSN, but they will specifically write on the SSN Card, something like this - "Not eligible for work". You can use that for Driving licence.

For changing H4 to H1, please consult a Lawyer or any consulting company HR manager.
