HDFC Receipt mandatory?

Hello All,

I am in the US right now, travelling India in the next 5 days (12th December). I have my visa interview scheduled for H1B visa on 18th, December. I see a lot of websites asking us to take the HDFC receipt during the visa interview, some of them even include that in mandatory documents. I paid my visa fee through online bank transfer (one of my friend paid it while I transferred her money). Would it matter If I dont carry that receipt with me? I have the receipt number with me since I got an email while scheduling the appointment though. Please help.

Yes. Your friend doesn't have receipt.

On a side note, you must've made it through the lottery for H1B in May then why are you interviewing in December?
