H4 to H1 coversion

Hi,
I am currently on h4 visa. I have got a sponsor for my h1 visa. I am aware that I can start working only by October. If by any means I want to quit my job after getting visa stamped, what will be my visa status? Will it get converted to h4 back again or my h1 will be valid for few months?

Before you quit your job, you need to file a COS from H1B back to H4. When you are in H1B status, you need to work and get paid. Otherwise you will go out of status on H1B. You can later file a COS from H4 to H1B again when you are ready to work. It can be done with the same employer or a different employer.
