Taking a break between transitioning from H1-B to F1 visa

Hey guys! I'm currently working under an H1-B visa and I'll be going to graduate school this coming August (switching to an F1 visa). I'm thinking of taking the entire month of July off to do a little bit of traveling and hiking within US. Would I be able to do that (assuming I don't have enough accrued vacation days to take for the entire month of July)?

I'm working for the same university that I'll be doing my Master's, if that helps.

Unfortunately unpaid vacation while on H1B is not allowed. That will be considered to be out of status period in H1B.
