I have only used 1.5 years of H-1B at previous job but I have not stayed outside US for a year. So I guess I can only go for extension (4.5 years more) and not new 6 year period. But anyway maximum visa issue period is 3 years.
How does this impact filling of I-129 in my case? Is there an option or question in the I-129 form where you need to specify whether you are choosing extension or new period?
