H1B master's cap

Hi

I am currently on opt. I have done my masters for USA. I am an Australian citizen.

My company is ready to file my E 3 visa (For Australian citizen). but not H1B.

So my question is if i go on E3 visa right now then can i apply H1b visa on the masters cap (i think those are 20000) next year ? or do i loose that advantage ?

You can apply for H1b visa later.
