Can I apply for SSN now though my EAD start date is in future?

Hi,

My spouse EAD was applied along with my h1b extension and received the EAD card with a start date in June.
Can we apply for SSN now with this EAD or should we have to wait until June to even apply for the EAD ?

You're not eligible to apply for an SSN until your EAD is current. I've never heard of EAD's being issued with a start date in the future.
