Vacation to India - H1 Ext in progress - Visa is valid

Hi,

Need your help. My current H1 Visa is valid till July 20, 2016 and currently paper work for my extension is in progress. I have to visit India for a week (June 3,2016 to June 12, 2016). Is it Ok to travel on this week and return without any issue?. Please advise.

It is allowed but not recommended. Afterall, what is the purpose of requesting extension of stay when you planning to leave?
