Chances to get H4 if marriages happens after SO already is on H1B for 4 years

my SO is on H1B for I think 4 years. I think it was extended very recently.

So we plan to marry so I can stay in the US. Somebody told me that it would likely be denied, because we were not married before SO got H1B.

Is that true?
