Travel During H1 Amendment

I need to travel to India but I recently moved to new client.My visa is valid till 2018 sep. Now H1 Amendment is filed.

1. Can I travel during the process of H1 Amendment?
2. What if H1 Amendment is denied while I am in India? Can I travel to US?

You suggestion is very helipful.

It is not advisable to do so. The reason is simple , upon your re entry, you would not have the approval in hand to work at the new location and the officer might not get convinced that the approval will eventually come.

2. Which I797 would you show if asked at the POE?
