L1 to H1

Hi,

I was in US on L1B visa for 5 years until 11th April 2015. Now i have applied for H1B visa from outside USA. will I get the visa for 6 years as the effective date of H1 is 1st October 2016 and i was outside country for more than a year 12Apr2015 to 1Oct2016?

You should be able to work on H1b for 6 years. Your visa date might depend on other things, but you should be able to get extension up to 6 years. As you were out of US for over 365 days.
