Part-time work on H4

Hi,

My wife is on H4 visa. Can she work in a small grocery store? Not as such a full-time job but as a part time work basically in shifts.
So is it legal?

Hoping for the right direction from this forum.

First I'm not an attorney or anything close but i am on a H4 and I have researched this to the max and basically an H4 allows you to reside and go to school but does not entitle you to a social security number which in turn means no work of any kind.

If she went to college full time she could swap to an F1 visa and this does allow a SS# and the right to work.

other alternative is that if you are from a treaty country you could look into starting a business, though clearly this takes money. You can find more info at the links below

remember attorneys also cost money.
