VFS dropbox processing time for H1B case- Chennai Consulate

**2026631225 is the telephone number of the visa office at U.S.Department of state at washington d.c. It takes about 15-20 mins to get thru all the recorded messages and menus and talk to a visa officer. They inquire the applicants passport number and inform its status.

Calling 202 663 1225 didnot show much effect, they told me the case is pending and its in the hands of Chennai consulate.

Hi Guys,

This will be a very good information for all of u waiting so long after posting passport and details in drop box.

I appeared for visa interview on 6th jan 2006, then dropped 221g and additional papers with passport on 31 jan and was waiting from since then and finally i got my passport through courier all i797 documents,peition documents through blue dart though vfs site was not updated i got my passport stamped with H1b.Three months of waiting has stopped and more importantly i got my visa stamped.

People who are waiintg for too long email to consulate and find the status of your visa u can mail @ chennaiNIV@state.gov .. it will give clear picture has it been processed or not.

Got H1B visa after waiting for 81 days

I got my H1B visa on April 24th 2006, after VFS dropbox on 2nd Februaury 2006. I literally lost hopes on my visa by then..... but as a pleasant in disguise I got my H1B atlast. The VFS dosent seem to upadet their system anymore. I called them up and asked status of my passport once I received my passport from VFS, but to my surprise, they said they have not yet recieved my passport from the US consulate. I told them that I am surprised with their poor and irresponsible process. I told them that I got my passport with H1B but their system is still not updated. So guys....when u call VFS again, ask them to check not just the system, but also the mailbox that they recieve from the US consulate on all working days, once at 10:30 am and the other at 15:30 pm. Ask then to check and recheck before you accept their word that they have not yet recieved your passport from the consulate. Also please feel free to mail chennaiNIV@chennai.gov to know your visa process status. They would reply to your queries in a couple of working days. Make sure you ask question to the point and keep in short. Do not write any essays about your story. My best wishes to all you guys waiting fo rget out from the dropbox.........

No reply from Chennai Consulate thru mail from last 4 days.
R they so busy that they cant even have to reply about the status of application?

Got 221g DropBox - have to travell out of India

Hi,
On 5 Sept I went for H1b Intv and I was given 221g DropBox stating Client letter. Now I will get my client letter soon.

My problem is I am flying to singapore, In that case I cannot put orginal passport in the dropbox.

Do any one have any, what should I do If I get the required docs?

Any help appriciated.
