VFS dropbox processing time for H1B case- Chennai Consulate

Waiting for 3 weeks

HI Friends,

I submitted my docs thru Drop Box 3 weeks back...
i mailed the consulate and they said it is under process and they can not say the time frame..too...i am very much worried ...
is there anyway we could track our passport???

also i got offers to go to UK..now.

my case is similar, i have sent thru Dropbox, and morethan 50days is over, and today i spoke to VO, they said that my visa is under processing and they did not said anything except that. And that is the status.

Pls post, whenever you get any updates.

Good news at last!!!!!

Ok guys, I got my H1B visa.

I had got 221g on Jan 7th, 2006 and I sent all the extra documents on Jan 19, 2006. And today March 17, I got my passport back. SO basically it takes about 2 months.

I submitted all documents with Passport and Visa Issuance Fee D.D. on 4th Jan 2006 in person.
when I enquired abt status, just got reply, its under Process.
Its been over 10 weeks and still no timeframe.

U r lucky to get it sooon. Congratz again.

Hi, Did you observed the status in VFS site.

Hi Razor,

Congrats to receive your passport and visa. And pls tell me, did you verified your status in VFS website (Track your passport delivery) and what it is displayed when you receive your passport. Cos somebody told that when your visa and passport is issued, status in the VFS website can change when you give your passport #.

Keep checking your Passport status on the VFS website. Once the passport has been handed over by the consulate to VFS, the website gets updated "saying your passport has been handed over to VFS". The next day, the website gets updated as to the status of the delivery, indicating the courier name(Blue dart) and when the package will be delivered.

Only after you receive the passport will you know if the visa has been issued or not as VFS does not know anything about it.

Vfs Drop Box Issue

Hi Guys,

Iam also stuck with the same issue you guys are facing!!! I guess thr must be lot of ppl with this issue ..

I appeared for visa interview on 6 jan 2006 got a 221(g) as usual and i was asked to put my papers in drop box i sent it to drop box on 31 january 2006 ..

Its been almost 9 weeks completed and 10 week will get completed this week end.. still no response from them.. no way we can track the passport thats the problematic stuff in it..

one of my friend who came with me same day and dropped papers after a week i dropped got a call from consulate saying they dont have his passport they were asking him to submit it .. but then vfs guys found it out and it got sorted again after 15 days consulate called up saying they dont have passport again it got sorted out .. now they said his passport was under process but neither has he received any updates nor have i received any updates !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope to keep you all guys posted when i get update on mine or any of my friends hope to hear the same from u guys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what the hell Consulate people r doing? r they just holding passports and other papers and just timepassing here in Chennai?

My documents and papers r handed on 4th Jan 2006 and still its in Processing.
If they r working so slow for this 65000 H1 Quota, what work they will do when 1,15,000 H1 Quota approves?
