VFS dropbox processing time for H1B case- Chennai Consulate

H1B-Status of 221(g)

Hi,

I have attended the consulate interview on March 29th. I got 221(g) form and asked me to drop the updated documents to the VFS service. If I am submitting the additional Documents to the VFS Service, whether I have to attend the Consulate interview once more.

Please let me know more about 221(g) and what are the procedures after submitting the additional Documents through VFS.

Hi All,

I am KrishnaMohan. I submitted my documents to vfs through dropdown box on may08-2007. But yet i didn't received any response. When i contacting the vfs regarding same. They are saying that we handover u'r application to Consulate on may10 and your application is in processing with Consulate.

Can any body tell me How many days taken by consulate to process our applications.

h -1b visa slot for usa

Hi friends,

This is Vara prasad rao.i have booked a slot for h-1b usa chennai counslate.i have done mistake in my DS 156 Form which contains Q NO2 &Q NO 11 under this there is STATE/PROVINCE fields are there in that i have typed wrongly as ARUNACHAL PREDESH insted of ANDHRAPREDESH(Which are not editable).Now what should i do about this issue.could please help me if anybody knows about this issue.

Hi,
On 5 Sept I went for H1b Intv and I was given 221g DropBox stating Client letter. Now I will get my client letter soon.

My problem is I am flying to singapore, In that case I cannot put orginal passport in the dropbox.

Do any one have any, what should I do If I get the required docs?

Any help appriciated.

timelines can not be predicted.
ppl have got response within 4 days also.. it also depends on how loaded ur VOs are during that time. also in some cases USCIS is contacted causing more delay!!

Hi All,

I had taken up my H1B visa inteview in the 1st week of Jan. I was asked to provide additonal documentation under sec 221(g) and was asked to utilize the VFS drop-box facility. I did so in the 3rd week of Jan. After that, I sent an e-mail to the Chennai Consulate asking them about the timeline. I got a reply saying "10 to 12 working days". After 12 working days, I called up the Consulate and asked them if I could know the status of my application. I was told that my application in under processing and that they could not give me any details of how long it would take. I was asked to wait until I got the passport back from the Consulate! I am still waiting (It is the last week of Feb now -more than a month).

When I initially called up VFS, the first thing I got to know was that, if you sent the docs visa VFS drop-box [for sec 221 (g) cases], you cannot track the passport delivery online. You will have to call VFS everyday and enquire if they have received the passport from the Consulate.

I have held multiple visas before this (F-1, B1/B2, H1B, etc.) I have never had problems with visa interviews before. I guess the Consulate is getting tougher on visa applicants and demanding more documents for genuinity reasons. I just hope that the processing gets done fast. I have sent the required information that the Consulate has asked for.
