  • Is there an alternative to avoid 221G

Due to my area of expertise and work function I keep getting a 221G Green Slip everytime. This time around, the VO claimed everything is OK but he is not able to approve it as the system requests a security clearance and that I know the drill. He also said it was not up to him to approve it as he did not make the rules and there is nothing he could do....

It the system tags the person for security clearance, why even call him or her for an interview ? The DS-160 system should not allow an interview in my honest opinion unless the security clearance is received. Why even make the person leave the US travel to the embassy and then tell him or her that the VO can do nothing about it?

In these cases shouldn't there be a system that you could voluntarily offer yourself for clearance while in the US by maybe visiting DoHS or DOS or something to that effect to avoid these delays everytime? Each time approval takes 4 to 6 weeks and a whole lot of mental anguish and torture while being away from your job.

There has got to be some way to avoid this. If anyone knows, please share.

    I just feel so violated.

Whats the purpose of security clearance if one gets its after reaching US or from within US? Also, security clearance is typically given by FBI not by USCIS/Embassy. It can be frustrating many a times, but there is hardly anything that you can do about it.

This is my opinion not legal advice.
