  • Fired on H-1B, could I apply for a fiancé visa to stay in status

Hi, I got let go yesterday after working for a firm for four years. I receive severance for four weeks which would mean that my last pay period with the current employer would be 30th of June 2016.
I'm actively looking for jobs starting today and hope something works out by the 30th but it would be nice to know what my other options would be, to stay in status.

My boyfriend is an American citizen and we are talking engagement & wedding. I do not want to get married just to stay in status but would it make sense to apply for a fiancé visa if a job offer is nowhere in site, come June 30th? Would they grant me a fiancé visa given I am already living in the USA? What are a few other options available to stay in status? My previous employer had initiated the PERM process for me and I have an I-140. As I understand, this indicates my intention to become an immigrant, making F1 and B1 transfers risky.
