  • Wife F1, husband H1 , any issues?

Thank you all for your contributions. This forum has really helped many different people in many different ways.

I had a question, which might be unconventional. I initially came to the US on an F1 visa. While I was on OPT (working), I went to India, got engaged, married, but didn't get marriage certificate, and returned to the US. My fiancee then came to the us on an F1 visa (as unmarried, because we didn't have a certificate) and we got married officially at a court in Peoria, Illinois, which issued us a marriage certificate. Now I am on H1B and my wife is on an F1 visa. We are planning to make visit home in a few months, and I plan on getting my H1B stamped. Will she or I face any issue while re-entering the US after our visit?

    Thanks for your help.

Is your spouse planning to go for H4 stamping or return on F1 visa?

Wording comes through as married once, then remarried again.

Well we had the marriage ceremony and all, but didn't register our marriage officially with the government.

She will return on her F1. She is yet to complete her studies.
