  • H1B is picked in lottery and when to apply for H4?

I'm currently working in a company "A" on L1B visa.
Company "B" sponsored me for H1B for 2017 quota. Fortunately, I was picked in lottery and my current status in USCIS is "Case Registered".
While I apply for H1B, my new employer "B" haven't filed the case for my spouse and kid (H4).

I heard, after my H1 is approved, I may opt to go with "Change of Status" or "Counselor process" .
If I go with Change of Status, effective from Oct-1 i will belong to company "B". Under this situation, when should I apply for H4 for my wife?
    2. My H1B sponsor-er is a contracting company for other firms. I wish to join a company that gives permanent position, how soon shall I apply for other job postings?

Check with employer B is they filed your H1 petition for consular processing or a change of status. It is not something you know after the approval, infact the employer must decide this and file the petition accordingly. If it has filed with COS, you have to be on company B's payroll starting Oct 1.
This is just my opinion, not a legal advice.
