~~~ 221g in London ~~~ (More than 2 months)
I've been posting my replies here but no one seems to be interested in my caseMaybe bcuz I'd applied from London (UK) and people are reluctant to comment anything.
I'll tell my story in brief. I had applied for an H1B visa, 2 months back at the US Embassy in London (UK) but they never issued me a visa. Instead, I was handed a 221g form and told to wait for a couple of weeks bcuz the visa officer said they want to do a further research on my company. (My company is a small NJ-based desi-consulting firm)
Now back in 2003, my US student visas (F1) were denied twice bcuz of which I came to UK for my Masters. I am currently working in a top American Bank here in UK after completing my Masters in Finance, but fortunately I got this job offer with a NJ-based company as a Business Analyst with a attractive package and they obviously offered me to sponsor an H1B.
I am a Gujju from Mumbai and from the looks of the case, it doesn't seem to be a security check on my name, just an employer check. Do you know guys, how long does such checks roughly take, I am deeply concerned as its been 2months already. Even the 221g form says, don't email or telephone.. How can a person know, whats going on? Whether its a rejection, approval or case pending..
Was anyone in the past stuck in the UK, or can anyone help with whats going on? My employer is helpless as well..Very sad situation for me.. May God Bless All..
For 221g there is no time frame. Even in my case its 2 months.
In this process they will verify client and employer details. If they have taken your educational certificates then they will check that too.
So complete process will take min 1 - 2 month. In some cases its more than a year. We people cant do anything. So let us wait. Surely we will get it.
ALL THE BEST for u.
Thanx Abita
I appreciate your reply Abita. Its very unfortunate that they dont work within a fix time frame. Sad part is that supply is more than demand and they really don't care a damn. Even if they harass 500 candidates each year under 221g, there are another 200,000 already waiting for next year.
Also once my case was flagged by denying me a F1-student visa in Mumbai (2003), they'll be always skeptic to issue me a H1B, just because I came to UK for my Masters and they lost their foreign revenue as tuition fees from me.
Hope someday I can change their old sarkari bureaucracy. Its surprising they work so unprofessionally in their London Embassy, the pre-eminent American consulate in the world. God knows how they function elsewhere.
Anyways no point cribbing, even God is helpless in case of a US visa. So wait and watch!!
I got a e-mail asking to send the passport, DD, photo by courier to their office. I am hoping it will be stamped now. This is for my wife's H4 Visa. I waited for a total of 9 months ( 6 months after AAP has been started) I will let you know the outcome.
Keep emailing the NIV section of the respective consulate. Tell them that it is very important that you report to the job during so and so week. Or write up a letter and have your employer email them. Dont forget to tell them how genuine your case is. Describe your educational and work exp background consistent with your docs. Tell them you need their decision to plan your career.
Me too sailing in the same boat..........
Hi Guys,
I too got a blue handout when i attended the interview on 4th Jan 2006 under section 221(g). I submitted all the requested documents on 31st Jan 2006 through VFS drop box. Since then, i've been following up with the consulate through telephone and email. I still get the same reply, saying my case is under administrative processing and no time frame to be mentioned. Its been 5 complete months..................am still waiting..............any light to be thrown on this????
