H1 b visa- Renewal

Is it possible to renew h1 visa within 6 years (from the period of stay in US)?if so new h1 petetion should be filed by the new employer??my h1 b Visa expired in July 2011.so before July 2017 can it be renewed ?please help me out with this query.thanks

When was the last time you were in US in H1 status?
