passport went to Admin Processing after visa approval

Hi all
My husband went for visa stamping at chennai consulate and was told visa is approved. After 4 days of interview the passport return status went into "Admin Processing". Can anyone tell why this happened even when visa was approved. Also what is the ETA to get passport back as we have return tickets purchased already. Is 221G same as passport going in admin processing?
