i94 correction for H4 visa

Hi,

I am currently in US holding H4 visa. My husband has valid petition of new employer and i94 till 2018. However, when i arrived my i94 expiration date was given considering his old petition which will expire in 5 days, so my i94 will expire in 5 days. When i went to CBP asking for correction they told me to file an extension in USCIS.

Can i file my extension while continue staying in US ?
If i file an extension, can i continue my stay after the i94 date expires?
Is there any other way?
