Hi.
I'm from Pakistan and I had a US visa interview on 4th October 2016 for an H4 visa..My visa was approved and the interview was extremely straightforward where the visa officer didn't check anything other than my passport and my husband's i797. While we were waiting for my passport to get stamped I got a call on 6th oct to appear for a re-interview on 7th oct.
I was interviewed by the same VO however this time he probed more into my husband's visa status. Just to clarify, my husband's h1B application was denied last year in September, however he started his Masters in October and was on CPT November onward. Meaning he never fell out of status. He got his H1B approved in July this year. However the VO i spoke to might believe that my husband fell out of status at some point in time which isn't the case. They issued a 221(g) asking for a document which has a complete timeline of my husband's stay/statuses in the US along with proofs. To make sure he was always in status, I presume. I've had multiple F-2 rejections in the past when I was trying to join my husband while he was on his F-1. However my first interview for H4 was a breeze and it really felt that denial in a different visa category doesn't reflect on another appilcation.
I really don't know what to expect now.
