Hello All,
Hope everyone's doing well and fine.
The purpose of this post is to summarize the experience of H1B interview at RIYADH US Embassy and also to just give general guide lines for what you can expect.
After having done my share of research and not able to find anything relevant with this region, I had to go through it to help out and inform.
All information provided here is my personal experience.
I had my H1B approved by September and the Consulate mentioned in the petition was Ottawa. (As I was expecting to be there for the interview).
However, since I work here (KSA), I couldnt travel and chose to go to the embassy in Riyadh.
As, everyone who has applied for an H1B is usually aware of the documentation (wont make it long) - If anyone has any question, you can feel free to ask here. or send a PM.
So, I scheduled for my appointment in October 2016 for 7.45am.
Reached the embassy at 7am (always advisable to be there earlier)
Stood in the line for about 15mins -
Showed:
Appointment Receipt
Application Form
Sent for security pass.
Went inside the embassy -was given a token.
Went for FP.
Sent for FP again.
Token number came for the main interview:
VO: Good Morning, How are you? Pls pass the passports.
Me: I'm good, how about yourself?
VO: So why are you traveling to the US?
Me: I have a job offer.
VO: Oh! Could you please give me the docs?
Me: Sure (I had my petition and approval in the hand which he saw)
Awkward silence...
VO: making weird faces
Silence...
VO: Since how long are you working with your current employer?
Me: XX Years
Silence again...
VO: So you are an Engineer?
Me: Yes, Im a YYYY Engineer (mentioned my major)
VO: making weird faces again
Silence again
VO: What would your job be with the employer in the US?
Me: Briefly explained my role.
VO: Making weird faces again
VO: So you have a Degree?
Me: Yes.
VO: in?
Me: Mention my degree.
VO: Your visas are approved you can collect them in 4 days.
Me: Thank You
Overall i stood there for over 10 mins. Plus I was accompanied with my wife for H4 - she wasnt asked anything.
In all it was a good experience.
Right, so hope this helps and brings some optimism.
Regards,
A M
