Re-stamping expired h1b visa in London US embassy with valid work permit

Hi All,

I am planning a short trip to the UK for my friend's wedding . And Since my H1B stamping on passport expired on 1s oct 2016, But I have valid work permit till Feb 2018 due extension I applied.
Question is
1. Will I face any issue in getting UK visitor Visa in the US my home country is India?
2. Since on return, I need valid stamping can I go for stamping in London US embassy. If yes how much time it takes there to get stamping done, I mean for booking an appointment and for getting visa stamped in passport.

Wouldn't advise that , London is not actually famous for even allowing transit to TCN without a valid US visa.
