Bangalore drop box to apply on Mumbai consulate

Hi,

I have received my h1b petition extension recently and now I am planning to go to India (Bangalore). I need to apply for visa. My previous consulate was Mumbai as I stay in central India but this time I am not planning to visit my native place.

Can I use Bangalore drop-box to apply on Mumbai consulate ? OR I can only apply to Chennai consulate from Bangalore ? Also, Am I allowed to apply Chennai if my native place is Indore (M.P.) ? I am currently located/working in USA on h1b with i140 approved.

Also, my wife won't be with me in Bangalore. Can I apply for her h4 extension as well without her presence using drop box?

I have already checked that I am eligible for drop box but not about these 2 things.

In response to your question, please note that, your visa application will be processed at the interview location mentioned on your DS-160 form. Hence, you may fill up the DS-160 form with the interview location where you wish to have your application processed. You may also inform the same at the time of submitting your documents.

If you are eligible for the drop box, please carry a copy of the drop box confirmation page while submitting the documents. Also, you are required to carry one photograph at the time of submitting your documents.
