Changing job while H1 Extension in progress

My H1 Extension is in process from my company A for which I am working now( I got my file number from USCIS).
I got a new job from a new company B and they will work on my transfer they said. I am kind of confused now at what stage that I should put my papers with my company A.
And how does the transfer happen? If someone can explain it will be useful.
