Can I request USCIS to extend my stay after CBP office gave me only 1-month stay?

I am a Chinese visitor on an H4 visa that expires on Sep 14th 2017. My passport will expire on July 19th 2017. When I entered the US yesterday, the CBP office authorized me to stay only until Jan 19th 2017 following the six months passport validity rule. I am wondering if I can request USCIS to extend my stay because USCIS's website only mentions the extension applicant's passport to be valid throughout the extended stay.
