I know this is different from the usual threads about moving into HK...but I was wondering if anybody went through the same experience.
Backstory:
Mom's Filipina, dad's a HK Chinese
They have one daughter (holding both HK passport + Filipino passport + HRP)
They divorced
Mom immigrated to US as a nurse
Mom's now a US citizen
Mom decides to file a petition for her daughter (who's now over 21 years old) but she files it using her daughter's HK Chinese citizenship..meaning on the form she's a HK Chinese national not a Filipino national
I know for a Filipino national it takes ages because Philippines is part of their so-called oversubscribed nationalities (too many applying for the immigrant visa) but HK is not. Mainland China is also part of the oversubscribed list. It takes twice as long especially if the child is not a minor anymore.
Now as an HK citizen being filed for a petition to become a permanent resident in the States, how long does it take to attain the green card?
Anybody had the same experience?
