I-140 Approved - Change of Employer

Hello Friends,

I have an approved i-140 with my current employer and my H1 visa is valid until May 2018.

My question is if I change my employer now, and the new employer hasn't started the GC processing before May '18, can the new employer still file for H1 extension after May '18.
