Hi,
I am here on H4 and my husband on H1 visa. WE just realized i need a Tax identification number (ITIN) to file a joint return with my husband. So we have filed an extension for filing our tax return and in the proces of applying for an ITIN.
We just got our H1 and H4 status extended via USCIS official communication. But yet to get the stamping on our passports as iam expecting and cant travel out of North america for another 6-7 months. We were cofirmed by our lawyers that i can get the stamping formality dealtrh with the next time we leave for India.
Issue: Since the pasport has an expired Visa stamping and the ITIN application requires a valid passport for Id proof and/or photo identification for USCIS proofs we are stuck. I can submit my passport and USCIS docs. but the USCIS doc is not a photo id. Would that be acceptable???? Can anyone share their experience and help us out here???
