What happens if passport expires prior to H1B date?

Hi,

My H1B has been picked up this year and as we know H1B is issued for 3 years i.e Oct 1 2017 -Oct 1 2020 but my passport expires on 2/9/2020(9 Feb 2020).So will i be issued visa if i go for stamping?

Most probably you will be issued H1b petition and VISA which is valid till your passport expiry date. Then again you will have to apply for extension of status before 6 months of expiry of your VISA, Petition.

The length of validity of the petition will be 3 years, and the length of validity of the visa will match the petition, and has nothing to do with when the passport expires. A valid visa in an expired passport remains valid and can be used with a new passport.
