Travel during J1 to H1B process
Hi All,
My J1 status will expire on Dec-31, 2017. I already have the waiver for 2-years of home residency. My employer is working to file academic H1B (nonquota). However, I may need to travel India in August-2017 due to a family emergency situation. The international office of my university told me not travel during this time and adviced me to plan international travell after Jan-1, 2018. It looks like that if I travel India in Aug-2018, I will never be able to come back USA and I have to start H1B visa processiong again. Is there anyway that I can travell and come back with J1?
