Query on I797

Hai Everybody,

I got my EAC number from my consultant

When i called the US Consulate-Chennai,They said that we need I797 and HDFC bank DD's Bar code in order to apply for Visa Appointment Date.

What is I797?When can i get it?

Is it mandatory to have to I797 for appointment date.?

Please help me.

divakar, the eac number is provided on the I797 form. The consulate probably asked you to have the form because you get your EAC number off that. For the appt, you simply need the number. At the time of the interview, your consultant would need to provide you with the original form.
