Hello All,
My six years on H1B will be completed by October 2018, where as my H1B expiry date is not until 2019. This is because the 1st H1B was for one year and the next two extensions were for 3 years each adding upto 7 years.
My employers hasn't started the Green Card processing yet and will soon in the next couple of months. Right now I have a job offer from a fortune 500 company and will not start the GC process until after an year after I join them. My question below:
1) As the 6 years limit hits in 2018, should I file for an extension in 2018 itself?
2) If I can continue on my current H1B till 2019 for extension, it will be 7 years on my H1B visa, will this cause any issues?
3) Will I be cutting it close or have possible issues if I can wait one more year to start the GC process with the new company?
Please advise. Any insight will be appreciated.
