H1b Stamping using Drop Box - Outside India

I have a tricky situation.
I am eligible for Dropbox but need to travel to Germany for work.
Can I do the following.
1. Go to Germany First
2. Ship Passport from Germany to India.
3. Give a Authority letter to my family.
4. They subumit the passport
5. Get passport stamped
6. They ship passport back to Germany.

Is this even permitted ? Or do I have to be physically present in India ?
