  • Parents name mismatch. Need help in filling DS-160

    Hi,

I have a unique complicated situation where I need help on how to proceed further as it might impact me in future. Please note that I have already completed 1 year in USA and planning to travel India for vacation and get my VISA stamped as well via dropbox.

    1. Currently my parents name in my passport is Father - "Chandrashekar", Mother - "Rajani" without Surnames. (In Real, They have surnames though).
    2. I am planning to get them here to US sometime later. People around me telling me that "Surname" must be entered in DS-160 as it is a mandatory field expected by US Government. I dont remember what details I had entered for this in my previous DS-160 created for my initial travel, but I am sure I did not enter their surnames. I would have either checked "Do not Know" or "FNU" in "Given Name" and actual name in "Surname".

My parents don't have their passports yet.

    So below are the questions.

    1. What should i fill in the Family Tab parent's details in my DS-160 for my extension stamping? It has both "Surname" and "Given Name" fields. There is a checkbox "Do Not Know" as well.
    2. If i select "Do not Know" for "Surname" and enter their actual name in "Given Name", though it will be in sync with my current passport details, when i get their actual passports applied, I might face problems as they actually have surnames and corresponding documents to confirm it.
    3. If i enter their actual names (actual surname and given name) in my latest DS-160, it will be a mismatch with my passport details, as well as my previous DS-160. But I can get their actual passports applied with this so that their new passports and my current DS-160 records will be in sync.

Please let me know the steps so that I can sync up the names (both Given Name and Surname) at all places.

I hope i have explained adequately to not confuse, and I am aware that it is pretty much complicated.

Any expert help on how to proceed further will help me immensely.
