H1b extension dropbox

Hi ALL,
I dropped off my application for h1b extension at Mumbai consulate on December 18th. It's been December 25th and the status still shows " Your passport is still with the US consulate". I was under the impression that drop box applications are processed within a day or two. Did someone else have the same experience about the status for a week ? Please help. I am freaking out

Hi Akshay,

Based on feedback from few to many people (here and other websites) who went with the dropbox option felt they should have scheduled an in person VISA interview instead as dropbox is painstaking (in terms of waiting) and especially in many cases they requested to show up in person for an interview or taking fingerprints. In my case within 4 days they called my Indian cell number to notify that they want to schedule an interview with me exactly a day after my return flight got scheduled (12-28-2017) along with taking fingerprints . I have no option but to cancel my return flight and I'm unsure of any additional delays that are going to add up after the inteview.

During the phone call the guy from US Embassy also mentioned about Christmas holidays which could have been the reason for this delay. Let's hope for the best in your case and wait for few more days as I don't see there is any other option (Unless there is something that I'm unware of).

Same situation

I'm in the same situation.... i dropped off my passport on 12/18 and it is still under "Application Received" status on CEAC website. Any help/guidance here is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
